Nicole Marsh, owner and lead planner of Compose Events has opened up her world of wedding and events planning for an interview which I am incredibly happy to be sharing with you today. Nicole’s boutique wedding planning business also tackles event design projects and they’ve put together gorgeous events to date.
Nicole’s transition to wedding planning was a smooth one, having worked in the events planning industry putting together corporate and social events for six years already. Planning weddings allowed Nicole to do what she loves, designing and creating events while building strong client connections. As she mentions in her interview:
“...being able to work with gorgeous venues, florals and gracious couples has made the transition from corporate event planning to wedding planning so seamless and truly enjoyable.”
Nicole works closely with each couple to provide a fantastic experience in every way. This extends to the relationships that she forms with her clients as well as to the design process and the final production of the couple’s big day. Every newly engaged couple dreams of their perfect wedding experience and as we all well know, this doesn’t just mean the big day. Planning a wedding can be highly stressful and Nicole ensures that her couples opinions are heard, cared for, and catered to ensuring that they receive the experience of a lifetime. This is a strength that has taken her business to new levels.

Compose Events is a boutique wedding planning and event design studio based in Michigan. They service brides from the metro Detroit area. Nicole is able to assist brides locally as well as on-site because Compose Events is comprised of two studios. This helps to lower unnecessary traveling costs and overnight fees which can pile up through the wedding planning journey.
“We have been able to spend a lot of time in both markets researching venues and curating relationships with vendors alike, not to mention fully immersing ourselves in the Northern Michigan culture to truly understand how remarkable their wedding experience there will be.”
Having an in-depth knowledge of the areas they service and long-standing relationships with the local vendors, Nicole, and her company are able to offer the best that the area has to offer, sourcing the best prices and the most reliable vendor options for the weddings and special events that they produce.
A recent styled wedding shoot has been featured in WeddingLovely which has been a highlight for Nicole and while she notes this as a proud moment for her business, she also mentions that the connections she is able to form with both clients and vendors have been somewhat of a remarkable experience for her.
One of my favorite questions to ask the wedding experts in interviews is their take on the best trends for the year. Nicole’s current favorites are neutrals, whites, and greenery. Lounge seating at a wedding is also on the top of her favorite picks for weddings as it creates a romantic and intimate setting (I totally agree, and there are so many ways to style lounge seating to your theme to make it absolutely gorgeous.)
Nicole’s portfolio is packed with “moments”. I’m always excited to browse the galleries on the websites or Instagram pages of our wedding experts as they are so telling of what each expert puts into their work. Nicole’s gallery is filled with beautiful settings, gorgeous florals, and stunning tableware but what stands out the most are the “moments” Those quick, unfiltered captures of brides and grooms at their happiest. Bridal parties enjoying the day together and even one or two awkward but endearing moments (the behind the scenes kind). I’m a personal fan of the behind the scenes images as they often capture the raw excitement of the bride or groom and the excitable atmosphere all around. It’s these moments that people look back on and say, “oh, I remember that giggle we had over a glass of champagne just before you burst into tears of joy.”
