Angelica Mcdonnell from Green Orchid Events Gives us the low down on her business

We recently interviewed fellow sparkle lover, Angelica McDonnell, owner of Green Orchid Events. The company specializes in wedding and event planning and have a stunning portfolio full of images that have captured not only their work but also the awesome moments that life has to offer. We’re absolutely over the moon to be sharing their work and this interview with you today.

Angelica joined Green Orchid Events in 2008 after interning on a wedding. Then owner of the business, Juliet Douglas, spotted her at the wedding and asked if Angelica would like to assist in one of her events. After that first wedding, she was hired. As Angelica mentions, the timing was everything, she had just completed her course at The International School of Hospitality and was immediately pulled into the wedding industry. I’m sure it’s because she followed her heart and her passion.

Incidentally, Angelica purchased the business from Juliet about a year and a half ago, one of her proudest moments in this business. This was a defining moment for Angelica and looking back, a leap of Faith that has been a rewarding decision.

Since the inception of Green Orchid Events, and as a continued mission of the business, the driving force and the passion that fuels the fire for this company is the industry and the couples. Couples are treated as friends. Lifelong friends who are made to feel absolutely comfortable with the process and as Angelica gets to know them, she asks all the right when, where, how, who, what and why questions in order to fully assess the individual needs of each couple. Digging deep allows her to get to that core essence of her couples and it’s in this that she can produce a wedding or event that caters to their wants and needs and is intimately detailed. One of Angelica’s favorite sayings to her couples is:

“I always tell them, your guests have been to weddings before, but they have never been to YOUR wedding. Let’s make it an experience they won’t forget!”

They offer wedding packages as well as social and corporate event packages. Some of their events include baby showers, bridal showers, anniversaries (and much more) on the social events side as well as events like team building and grand openings on the corporate side. They’d love to add more locations to their growing list of destination weddings and, as in Angelica’s words, “are willing to travel for love”.

Angelica shared her favorite wedding trends with us and marble made it to the top of the list. Marble print is pretty big right now and there are a variety of imaginative and creative ways to use marble from wedding stationery to cakes. The marble and metallic combination is also a favorite of Angelica’s. With regards to color, burgundy and blush as a combination, have her attention at the moment and another stunning wedding trend that is also one of my personal favorites is the long-sleeved wedding gown with an illusion back.
